SoftWave Therapy
(Shockwave)

Not all shockwave is the same. SoftWave uses patented unfocused technology to stimulate your body’s natural healing process — deeper, broader, and more effectively than traditional devices.

FDA-cleared · Non-invasive · No downtime · No medications

What Is SoftWave Therapy?

Your Body Already Knows How to Heal. SoftWave Reminds It.

SoftWave Therapy — also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) — is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic sound waves to stimulate your body’s natural healing response at the cellular level.

The device is applied externally to the affected area. The sound waves travel through the skin and into the tissue, creating a controlled response that tells your body to start repairing what’s been damaged or stalled.

Think of it as waking up tissue that has stopped healing on its own. Tendons, muscles, and connective tissue that have been in a chronic pain cycle — never fully recovering, never fully breaking down — respond to the signal and begin regenerating.

No needles. No medications. No surgery. No downtime. Just your body doing what it was designed to do — with a tool that gives it the signal to start.

Why SoftWave Is Different

Not All Shockwave Is Created Equal.

The term “shockwave therapy” covers a wide range of devices with very different technologies and very different results. Here’s what sets SoftWave apart.

The Science

How SoftWave Therapy Works

Four things happen inside your tissue during every SoftWave session — all of them are your body’s natural healing mechanisms, triggered by the acoustic wave.

Stem Cell Activation

Dormant stem cells are mobilized and directed to the damaged tissue to begin repair.

Increased Blood Flow

New blood vessels form and circulation improves — delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissue that has been starved of it.

Inflammation Reduction

Chronic inflammation — a primary driver of ongoing pain — is actively reduced at the cellular level.

Tissue Regeneration

New, healthy tissue is produced. Scar tissue breaks down. Function is gradually restored.

What We Treat With SoftWave

Conditions That Respond Well to SoftWave Therapy

SoftWave is particularly effective for chronic conditions where tissue has stopped healing on its own — and for injuries where other treatments haven’t delivered lasting results.

Every Session — Directly With Dr. Funk

Unlike many practices where SoftWave is administered by a tech or assistant, every session at Longevity Performance Systems is conducted directly by Dr. Funk. Your assessment, your treatment, your progress — all with the doctor. Every time.

What to Expect

Your First SoftWave Session

Before Your Session
Dr. Funk will assess your condition and confirm SoftWave is the right tool for what you’re dealing with. No referral needed. No lengthy intake process.

During Treatment
The device is applied directly to the affected area. Most patients feel a gentle pulsing sensation. Sessions typically last 10 to 15 minutes. Some patients notice immediate relief. Others feel mild soreness that resolves within a few hours.

After Your Session
You leave and get on with your day. No rest required. No activity restrictions. Results build progressively — most patients see significant improvement within 3 to 6 sessions.

Common Questions.

The questions we hear most about SoftWave before a first visit.

No — and the difference matters. Most shockwave devices use radial waves that are superficial and cover a small area. SoftWave TRT uses patented unfocused true shockwave technology that penetrates deeper and covers a significantly larger treatment zone — up to 7cm x 12cm per pulse compared to 2cm x 2cm for radial devices. It’s a fundamentally different and more effective technology.

Most patients feel a gentle pulsing sensation during treatment. Some experience mild soreness in the hours following a session — similar to what you might feel after a deep tissue massage. This typically resolves quickly and is a sign the tissue is responding. Many patients actually notice an immediate reduction in pain after their first session.

It depends on the condition and how long it has been present. Most patients see significant improvement within 3 to 6 sessions. Chronic conditions that have been present for years may require more. Dr. Funk will give you an honest assessment at your first visit — not an open-ended treatment plan.

Yes. There is no downtime with SoftWave. Most patients return to work, training, or their regular schedule immediately after treatment. No restrictions, no recovery period.

SoftWave is specifically effective for chronic conditions where other treatments have stalled or provided only temporary relief. If your tissue has stopped healing on its own — which is exactly what happens with most chronic tendon and soft tissue injuries — SoftWave gives your body the signal it needs to start the repair process again. The best way to know if it’s right for your specific situation is to start with a consultation.

SoftWave TRT is not covered by insurance. Dr. Funk will discuss pricing and options at your consultation — before you commit to anything.

HSA & FSA accepted. We are an out-of-network provider. Many patients use health savings accounts or receive partial reimbursement through their PPO plan. We’ll discuss your options at your complimentary consultation.
