If your shoulder keeps hurting — no matter what you try — the problem probably isn’t where you think it is.

If Any of These Feel Familiar — You're in the Right Place.

Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints we see — and one of the most commonly treated in isolation.

Most approaches focus only on the shoulder itself. Isolated strengthening. Passive stretching. Rest. And while those things aren’t wrong, they miss the bigger picture.

The shoulder doesn’t work alone — and treating it like it does is often exactly why the pain keeps coming back.

Common Symptoms

Here’s What Most People Get Wrong

The Shoulder Hurts. But the Shoulder Isn't Always Where the Work Needs to Happen.

The shoulder sits at the top of a chain that runs through the scapula, the thoracic spine, and the entire upper body. When any part of that chain isn’t doing its job — the shoulder compensates. It absorbs load it wasn’t designed to handle, repeatedly, until it breaks down.

Poor scapular control means the muscles around your shoulder joint work harder on every rep and every swing. A stiff thoracic spine limits how much the shoulder can move efficiently — so it compensates to make up the difference.

Our goal is always to reduce your shoulder pain — directly and as quickly as possible. Every treatment plan includes targeted work at the area of complaint. But pain relief alone isn’t enough if the mechanics driving that pain haven’t changed. That’s the difference between feeling better for a few weeks and actually fixing the problem.
“The shoulder is absorbing the load. The question is why — and where the breakdown actually started.”
Every first visit begins with a thorough assessment — not a guess. We identify what’s actually driving the loading pattern before we treat anything.

From there the plan addresses both the pain and the cause — simultaneously. That’s how you feel better now and stay better long term.

How We Treat It

A Specific Plan. Not a Generic Protocol.

Every case starts with understanding where the chain broke down. What we find determines what we do.

01

Identify the Breakdown We assess shoulder mechanics, scapular control, and thoracic mobility to identify where the chain is failing and why the shoulder is absorbing more than its share of the load.

02

Restore Proper Mechanics Chiropractic adjustments to restore joint function at the shoulder, thoracic spine, and cervical spine. Myofascial therapy to address soft tissue restrictions around the shoulder, scapula, and upper back that are limiting proper movement and loading.

03

Accelerate Tissue Recovery
SoftWave TRT to stimulate healing in chronically overloaded tissue that has stopped recovering on its own. Highly effective for shoulder tendinopathy and soft tissue conditions that haven’t responded to rest and passive care.

04
Rebuild and Maintain Movement reeducation so the shoulder, scapula, and thoracic spine are working together the way they were designed to — and the shoulder isn’t compensating alone.

Why SoftWave TRT Makes a Difference Here

Chronic shoulder tendinopathy involves tissue that has been overloaded for so long it has stopped healing on its own. SoftWave TRT stimulates repair at the cellular level — reaching tissue that rest and passive rehabilitation alone can no longer address.

Common Questions.

What we hear most often before a first visit.

Many shoulder conditions — including partial tears and tendinopathy — respond well to conservative care when the underlying mechanics driving the overload are addressed alongside tissue healing. Surgery is sometimes the right answer but it’s rarely the only answer. Dr. Funk will give you an honest assessment at your first visit about what’s appropriate for your specific situation.

Physical therapy is most effective when it addresses the movement patterns and loading issues driving the problem — not just the shoulder in isolation. If previous care focused primarily on isolated shoulder exercises without assessing the full chain, the pattern that overloaded your shoulder in the first place likely wasn’t addressed. That’s where we start.

HSA & FSA accepted. We are an out-of-network provider. Many patients use health savings accounts or receive partial reimbursement through their PPO plan. We’ll discuss your options at your complimentary consultation.
